For once, the players looked like real humans, the ball was clearly visible on the playing field, and it had cool goalposts, that just made you want to kick one through. We all due respect to the limitations of the Mega Drive, Fifa Soccer 95 did a pretty impressive job on its visuals and graphics. The game was vastly superior to the original from many perspectives, as the graphics were sharper, the sound effects were clearer, the game-flow was smoother, overall it was more refined and polished. It was built as an improvement to the original title, as a fix to most of its major issues, and in my opinion, it did its job. It was when EA Games was a junior entering the gaming industry no one expected the Fifa game series to get as big as it is today.įifa Soccer '95 was a sequel to the original FIFA International Soccer by EA Games, but unlike the predecessor, it was developed exclusively for the SEGA console. Set pieces also received a new format, and instead of just kicking the ball the player can choose to play a predefined set piece.FIFA Soccer 95 is a football game released by Electronic Arts in 1994 exclusively for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. While graphically the game only received minor changes to the isometric sprite engine, gameplay feature new moves such as volley kicks and more detailed headers (now more effective), as well as general controls being more responsive facilitating passing play, and goalkeepers now are smarter when chasing balls. For those who want to settle things the fast way, a Penalty Shootout training mode was added. Also new, a battery backup allowed to save up to four competitions in the cartridge, replacing passwords. This also increased the number of competitions, with each country having it's own League, Tournament and Playoff. The biggest change from FIFA International Soccer are obviously the dozens of club teams from England, France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, United States, Spain and Brazil, taking the team number tally to over 200. ![]() ![]() After the first game proved to be a worldwide success, EA developed this sequel exclusively for Sega's 16-bit console. ![]()
